That is certainly a way that you could take it.
(I don't like it because it seems like another instance of Roberts not having characters use their altmodes when it would make sense to.)
TBH most of the time they were in closed spaces on a ship, and when we did see them outside they used their alt modes. For example, Whirl and Cyclonus on Luna 1, where they could fly, took to their alt modes, and when clashing with the DJD and Deathsaurus they used their alt modes to excape (except Nautica ofc).
now, as far as fighting goes, you could make an argument that some of them have better fighting ability in their robot modes than in their alt modes (for example I don't think Chromedome has any form of firepower in his alt mode) in some cases.

Using an alt mode inside the Lost Light is probably possible for most of them, but something tells me that since most of them are vehicles and thus pretty fast, whoever got caught driving around the corridors in their alt mode would get arrested under article whatever of the Tyrest Accord and violating safety procedures.

We need a Rung figure. C'mon Hasbro/Takara or 3rd party companies, get on with it already!

I've always thought that MMC's Vos was a NO-BRAINER re-shell for Rung...I guess that was back before every MMC mold had to be re-tooled for 4 characters...

Yeah, you'd have thought Mastermind Creations would have retooled their Vos into Rung, but... alas, they haven't. =/

MMC: "Don't worry...here's that Death's Head that's retooled from a Lock-clonus that everyone ALWAYS wanted..."

I did this picture of Rung a couple of years back based on a photo of me because I am the human Rung (well, nearly I'm not ginger)

I went off Rung after it turned out that the answer to "what is Rung's altmode" was "who cares because his special powers are actually from his robot mode".
Hmm, I can see why that would be disappointing but I actually think that does make him special - Functionalism reduces all Transformers to how useful their alt-modes are, so having someone special for their robot mode really breaks the mold!
Agreed. It was a silly hope of mine that we'd get a reveal that Rung does Something and that his alt would be completely incidental to this reveal, so I was very pleased that's what happened. I'm sure his alt will end up with its own reveal somewhere down the line but honestly I have no interest in it, haha.
